Physical Education Syllabus

The purpose of physical education is to guide students in the process of becoming physically active for the rest of their lives and to increase knowledge on leading a healthful lifestyle.

Physical Education Classroom Expectations

1.  Arrive to class on time with your clothes

  •          You have  5 minutes after the bell to be dressed and standing in your spot for attendance.

  •          If you are not in your spot you risk being counted tardy or absent for the day.

         (Any student who arrives 10 minutes late or more will receive an UNEXCUSED absence, unless you have a pass.)

 

2.  Change into acceptable P.E. clothing immediately and go directly to your floor spot

        Acceptable clothing consists of:

1.     Sneakers with laces tied (Work/ Hiking boots, and flip flops slippers are not acceptable)

2.     T-Shirt/Sweat Shirt (No low cut, revealing shirts)

3.     Shorts/Sweat Pants (No short shorts)

**** A student will be considered unprepared if any part of acceptable P.E. attire is missing.  Being unprepared will result in a in a zero for the day. Student’s who are not in proper attire will not be allowed to participate for safety reasons. 

 

3.        Participation is required.

Notes from the parent/guardian or the doctors are the only exceptions.  Excused students who are not physically able to participate may be given an alternative activity (worksheet(s) /managerial tasks).Any unexcused absence will result in a zero for the day, more than five absences in a term will result in a failing grade.

4        You are responsible for your lock, clothing, and valuables.

·         Report any problems with your locker immediately.

·         Keep all belongings locked up at all times.

·         Do not share your locker with anyone.

·         Report any issues within the locker room to supervising teacher ASAP.

·         Food, Drink and Cell Phones are not allowed in the locker rooms. 

****Any student caught stealing will be dealt with severely

5.    No cell phones permitted in the gym or locker room at any time. 

    

Class Rules

 Always participate to your best ability in all activities. This includes stretching, strength exercises, jogging, skills practice, and games.

Be respectful towards teachers, classmates and all equipment

Always follow all safety precautions.

Never touch equipment without teacher permission.

Keep hands and feet to yourself.

Never use foul or abusive language at any time.

Report ALL injuries to the supervising teacher as soon as possible.

 

 

Consequences

First Offense: Verbal Warning

1. Remind students of the rules posted in the gym.
2. Have a conference with student outside the gym area.


Second Offense: Teacher Detention


Third Offense: Written Referral to Discipline Department


For serious misbehavior, the student will be sent directly to the Discpline Office.
